Banned From the Bible

i may be late in seeing this special on the history channel, but did anyone else see this show.

it was about books being banned from the bible that further explains events that may or may not have happened the way it is written in the bible.

this show peaked my curiousity and i went to the library and found the book who wrote the bible?

I did not see the program, however, almost a year ago I saw a program on the other books, that were also part of the Jewish libraries at the time, one I found most interesting was the 'Book of Enoch', which goes into great detail with respects to the Angels that slept with women, etc. It was a very interesting read. They also noted that in the book of Jude, there is a reference to the prophet Enoch, which reads....

Yes, the seventh one [in line] from Adam, E´noch, prophesied also regarding them, when he said: "Look! Jehovah came with his holy myriads, 15 to execute judgment against all, and to convict all the ungodly concerning all their ungodly deeds that they did in an ungodly way, and concerning all the shocking things that ungodly sinners spoke against him."

Where I highlighted indicates that there exists writings from the prohphet Enoch. Plus the quote that follows, "Look! Jehovah came with his myriaids..." This was quoted from the Book of Enoch. These writings were also found with the dead sea scrolls. I started to wonder why some books were kept from the bible and others not. Who were these men that made this decision for me? So when time allows, I periodically read some of these other books.

I want to know if the Bible is truly God's word and I want to know what other books existed and who decided to have what removed and when. If I am to believe the Bible is God's word then I want the whole truth, not half truths.

i wonder how many have been affected by the watchtower's interpretation of these things.

i know of many many jws that "live together" only because they are married to each other.

these people almost hate each other, but would never leave their marriages and get an "unscriptural" divorce.....i know of wives that "forgave" their husbands "unknowingly".

Congratulations!!! I am sure you have heard this already a hundred times over.

Isnt it wonderful to watch you family grow from children to granchildren. It is a wonderful feeling. What a wonderful cloud of happiness you must be floating on right now. I wish they could put the joy of birth in a pill form and whenever we got the blues we could feel like we do when the birth of a family member arrives.

Lucky for me...I was going through a divorce when I first came in contact with JWs. And at that time there was no way on Earth I was going to return to that hell hole. I have read of a few experiences discussed in the CoC book that I thought were just awful. Hey, its a man's world.

Now, as years went by and I discovered my new future hubby, the sisters in my cong. were so against it. They treated me awful because they felt that since he was not a JW he wold drag me away from the mother ship. I did not listen to them and married him within 8 months of our courtship. Since I was not baptized yet, they could not disfellowship me.

Here we are celebrating our 14th wedding aniversary this year. We have had our little problems, but I wouldn't trade him for my first hubby...not even for a million bucks. Never in a milion years.

If I was with her I would have put him in his place....believe me.

No longer do I have a 'kick me' sign on my back. I think either this brother hates being a JW or he hates women, or both. I use to think that the only reason men came into 'da fold' was because it allowed them to put a dog collar on their wives. I know its not entirely true but I am sure there is some truth to it. I mean, come on....a woman's head is her selfish husband and the husband's head is invisible? Works for me.....NOT. Dont get me wrong, I love my hubby, he is a good man but admittedly he thinks of himself more often than he thinks of his family. I have to remind him of his family priorities more often than I care to admit.

Another option would be to ask that brother as kindly as possible, since my hands are so full, if he could please write my daughter's name for me on all the books. If he refused....I would tell him to kiss my worldy mother-in-law's patooty!!!!

The next day she realized they left her daughters book bag. They had to rush to the ER because the baby was really sick. So she went to the lost and found and she saw the bag and retrieved it. The brother said, "you should write your name in them". She said, that the bag was her little girl's, and he replied "you should write your name in them" she said, well yesterday we had to go to the ER in a hurry, and he replied..."you should write your name in them" She said she was so discouraged with the mean attitude that prevailed with so many that call themselves God's servants.

Also they did announce that they should not go out to eat during lunch. They announced the reason too. They said that this is because not everyone can afford to eat out and if concessions are allowed to run, then those who cannot afford to eat are not allowed to bring food. In other words, there is no food allowed in the stadium except for concession foods, and this would not be fair to those who could not afford to eat at concessions. But I said that's interesting. Why cant those poor people go outside and eat in their cars? She did not know. So it would be interesting to find out if that were true.

i haven't read all the posts in this forum yet.

so, i apologize if this was covered before.

i found a statement written by "god's channel of communication" in the "you can live forever in paradise on earth" book, c.1982, page 154, par.

I was thinking about this just the other day. I wanted to do some more research on this topic. Because at one point they say....

1. We are imperfect men with no special communication with God, only sincere bible students.

2. That the organization is the only true religion that God uses to fulfill its purpose.

These two statements cancel each other out. How can you say you do not have any special communication with God, that is above all other men, then say that all salvation lies within the boudaries of the WTS. If God did not tell them this personally, then they muct have told themselves this.

I wish I could find all the publications that comment on both these thoughts. I was provided with some links, but if any of you should know of more, I am thirsty on this one.

Most of my 20+ years with the WTS has been hearing things/teachings, nodding my head yes and saying (with my best Scooby Doo impression) O-ray.

I was not raised in the truth, but when I was a child I saw many strange unexplainable things in our house. I grew up in a very unloving and abusive household too. My mother was deep into spiritism. I thought she was summoning ghosts. None at that time ever tried to hurt me, they would just scare me or make faces and/or noises. As I got older I shrugged these off as a possible vivid imagination of a child although in my mind today they still seem very real.

When I was 20 I was laying on my couch trying to go to sleep. As I was laying there I started to see several midget like people sitting on the chair accross from my couch where I was lying looking back at me. Then there was this very strong and large being on top of me. I tried to turn my head to see who my attacker was but the strength was beyond human, holding my face in the direction of the stupid midget like people. There is no doubt in my mind that this thing was trying to spread my legs apart. I just kept struggling and saying to myself get up, get up and they all dissappeared. I jumped to my feet.

Ok...now being the logical minded person I was/am, I said to myself...."Was that a dream?" So I layed back down and waited, it only took a few seconds. They all started to appear again, midgets watching this other being physically attacking me. I told myself to get up get up and this time I ran upstairs and layed down next to my husband, who was asleep in bed. To this day, in my mind I believe in my heart with all my logical senses that I was being attacked by something.

Keep in mind, at this point in my life I had never been in contact with a JW, although a Kingdom Hall was accross the street from my house. (I wonder if that means anything) Anyway, I use to think, "What's a Jehovah?"

I had no idea really if demons existed or not. I thought it was an eveil ghost I guess. I never had been attacked since that day and I still dont know to this day an explanation for that phenomenon.

Of course, when I did come into contact with JWs about 5 years later, it all made sense to me. They were demons. This was the first an only explanation I ever had and it seemed to fit so I accepted it. I never told any sisters what had happened, but I felt as though I finally understood what had happened.

I dont know what is out there, I dont know if it was one of the greatest hallucinations I ever had. I guess I will never know.

I hope you all dont think I am kooky for sharing this, it was just one of those strange life expereinces that just have no explanation.

there's a great book about the scrabble subculture called "word freak.

" i read it last year because i was considering joining a local scrabble group.

however, after reading the book, i realized i'm what the "word freaks" call a good living room player and nothing more.

It started when my mother was a scrabble freak. She forced me to play and a child and I did. She always whooped me.

When I was 27 I visited her... we played scrabble. I whooped her for the first time. I never really gave it another thought. Until the next day when she came over my house with the scrabble board under her arm for a rematch. I lost and we have not played scrabble since.

Years pass by and me and my sister play scrabble now. You see, she is also obsessed with scrabble, as is my mom. She always whoops me. Except this one time when I used all my tiles at the beginning of the game. I got an extra 50 points. She whispered a few things under her breath and then sort of did not want to play because she knew she could not get the points. This is when I realized that she played for points and I played for interesting words. When I saw her the next week, she pulled out the scrabble board. Just like my mom. Hey, I will never say that to her face, as all us girls have a mother complex.

I will have to check out this book you mention. I would really love to whoop my sister again. I love to see her expressions. As a matter of fact, the last time she whooped me I said, "Well I will rematch you next week". Now we havent played for 3 weeks. She's tooo busy now.

Got any other good pointers? From one scrabble freak to another.
